Today is the one year anniversary of one of the best men I have ever met.

Cpl. Philip Charte
August 8, 1988 - September 7, 2010

Cpl. Charte died at age 22 defending his country in Afghanistan. He was serving with the 2/6 Marines as a rifleman. He was awarded the purple heart posthumously.  He earned the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

It’s not who you are underneath, it’s what you do that defines you.

It makes me very proud to know that I knew him.
